Founder & Chief Instructor

Over the years, Steve received expert tuition from various exceptional Instructors affiliated to Spirit Combat International, World Kobudo Federation & Kiai Yamabushi Ryu, and was awarded various teaching/coaching Qualifications in Ninjutsu, Aikido, Aikijutsu, Women’s Self Defence, Kickboxing and Police Technical Instruction.

While Steve had wide-ranging interests in the various disciplines (including Field Craft), he chose to concentrate on Ju Jitsu and opened and/or taught in many Clubs in the Algarve, Portugal.  He taught on numerous Seminars in Portugal, Spain and England and frequently formed part of Black Belt Grading Panels in his chosen Art.  In the early 1990’s he was invited to teach the Portuguese and Spanish Police as well as organise International Martial Arts Seminars in the Algarve.

In 1998 Steve was asked to take over KYR Portugal, and returned to the UK two years later and opened what soon became one of their most successful Dojo.

In May 2004, Steve founded British Jujitsu Ryu teaching his own Syllabus, based on a combination of traditional Jujitsu, Ninjutsu and Aikijutsu.  He believes that every Martial Art has something to offer, and is honoured to teach both Instructors and students of various other styles, and encourages all his students to train in other Arts.
